Challenger Univid secures multi-year contract as Almedalen Week's official play channel
No one has escaped the fact that the latest upstart on the digital event scene is called Univid. With a brand new investment in the bag, it is now clear that Univid secures an agreement of 2 + 1 years to continue to deliver the play channel to one of the world's largest political gatherings - Almedalen Week.
Almedalen Week (Almedalsveckan) is one of the world's largest meeting places and in connection with the pandemic, the week in July 2021 was carried out completely digitally. During four intense days, over 700 events by more than 400 different organizers took place on the play channel - a platform provided by the startup Univid.
It is now clear that Univid lands a multi-year agreement of 2 + 1 years with Region Gotland to continue delivering the official play channel after a successful 2021.
Co-founder of Univid, Jonathan Rintala, talks about the trust in being selected to enable Almedalen and the work towards more engaging digital events:
Almedalen Week is for us a fantastic opportunity to democratize events - and let more organizations create engaging and personal experiences in the digital space. This is something we see that many are struggling with today. Hopefully we can take it one step further this year and enable even more memorable events!
Co-founder Erik Skogetun continues:
We are really happy that we have been entrusted to continue to deliver such an impactful event via Univid for several years ahead. And of course we look forward to as good a collaboration as previous years with Region Gotland!
A rapid expansion within virtual events and webinars
Univid was founded by two students at KTH Royal Institute of Technology before the pandemic to create more interactive lectures. The school world was soon history, and the company has since grown rapidly in the world of virtual events. Just a couple of weeks ago - in January 2022 - the company raised 8M SEK in financing, and is now active outside Sweden's borders, with some of the world's largest companies as customers.
A simple, visually attractive and accessible platform - for a democratic week
On the digital platform, all events that have a digital broadcast during Almedalen Week are presented. It is therefore important that it is an easy experience for organizers to add and create events. At the same time, Play must be easy to navigate, graphically reflect Almedalen and be accessible to visitors.
With excellent feedback about the platform from organizers last year, Region Gotland seems to have found just this in Univid, and has now secured the digital presence of the coming years, through a multi-year agreement where Univid is the supplier of the platform.
Almedalen Week is based on everyone being able to participate, with Almedalsveckan Play, more people have been given this opportunity. With Univid's solution, we have found a simple and attractive platform that breathes Almedalen, says Mia Stuhre, project leader for Almedalen Week.
Mia Stuhre proceeds:
This year's Almedalen Week is arranged on site in Visby July 3-7. However, we hope that many organizers take the experience from last year and also broadcast their events digitally via Almedalsveckan Play. In addition to opening up for more people to participate, Almedalsveckan Play, with all digital events, displays the diversity of Almedalsveckan, both as a meeting place and as a place for free replenishment of skills.
During Almedalen Week, in addition to the play channel, Univid offers the opportunity to arrange events held in Visby or host webinars directly via the Univid platform - so that more people can participate and experience all of Univid's interactive functions.
