Sting Demo Day 2022 was a held in a virtual format, with polls to vote for the best pitches, over 1500 reactions flowing in both chat and video, and lots of awesome messages celebrating the companies in the chat! Also, a brand new feature - the Univid toolbox was used to send out a confetti explosion. An event all hosted smoothly hosted in a Univid session - setup in less than 60 seconds.

Before the virtual event - setting things up

The event was setup in less than 60 seconds where Sting as host could easily tailor the appereance with logos, links and a graphical profile that immersed with the rest of their branding. Some nice information could be added to the sidebar to set the expectations and inform the users of useful links, etc.

Also, Sting together with the event firm Utsikt prepared the polls and could test them out before - so they felt comfortable in sending them out live.

Finally, the studio technicians were added as admins to the session, and could smoothly run some streaming tests the days before the virtual event went live.

It's about to happen - 1,2,3.. live!

Before the event a countdown was running in the Univid session - per usual. Participants could navigate into the session before the event, and get excited, reading up on the event description in the sidebar and pre-networking in the chat feed!. The automatic Univid countdown was in full motion, setting the expectations right, creating that good pre-event buzz.

This time the studio had their own countdown with some music. Once their own event countdown was running, they could easily switch over to that one, making sure everything looked good in the preview, and simply publish the stream in the Univid session with a click. 1, 2, 3 and we are live!

“Sting Demo Day is a high-profile virtual event for over 150 investors. With Univid we had over 1500 reactions and a chat exploding with positive cheering and feedback - an awesome experience that was super easy to manage!”

Interaction - over 1500 reactions in chat and video

Investors might seem like a formal crowd. That did not stop this event from producing a ton of engagement. Over 1500 reactions were sent out during the event, in both the chat feed and video. Around a 100 messages were bombed out during the virtual event - with lots of good energy and vibes. It was not a dull moment - and as the company pitches exchanged one another - people kept cheering each other on, sending out emojis, and answering polls - having a good and fun time in the digital format!

Votation done with ease - no need to switch context or device

Votation is a big part of the Sting Demo Day, where investors and attendees get to vote for the best pitch! The votation was done with ease via the Univid polls.

Previously, Sting has been using Mentimeter together with a Youtube stream. This means the attendees have to have two devices, and use their phone to enter a code to participate in voting. With Univid, votation is smooth. People can stay in the same context, without need of an additional device. Digital first, done right. The attendees got a popup where they could easily vote for their favorite pitch and startup.

By the way - big congrats to Syncc for taking home the pitch competition!

Call to action button - linking to an external site to read more about all pitching companies

To facilitate sharing a lot of information, linking to a product site, an evaluation, or some other external site - you can activate a call to action button with a few clicks during the event.

You can change the link or text on the button at any time, in real-time - pretty convenient, and in this case it was used to direct attendees to a page where they could read more about the different startups pitching.

Brand new Univid toolbox - launch confetti and other cool stuff

So, what is an event without some new fun features? Well, we silently launched the awesome Univid toolbox just in time for the Sting Demo Day - that featuered a confetti cannon as the first tool out of the box. This made the finale of the virtual event impactful and fun, with an element of surprise as the immersive confetti bomb launched to end things off in style!

After the event - following up and analyzing engagement

Obviously, a fun and engaging event means lots of good insights. For example - what parts of the event were most interactive and exciting for the attendees? How was the retention over time? Lots of good answers in the dashboard!

Big thanks to the Sting team for choosing Univid as event platform for the year's biggest virtual event - Sting Demo Day 2022. Also, great job assisting with arranging of the event by the event firm Utsikt Kommunikation!
